June 24 at 7:30 am, the new built cement carrier M / V Shetland left the Ferus Smit shipyard in Westerbroek and set sail towards the Eemshaven. The next 2 weeks will be used for, among other things, the commissioning of the LNG system and bunkering of LNG. The Seatrials are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 3 July, after which the official delivery to owner will take place on 5 July. The vessel will be brought under full managment of MF Shipping Group.
The M/V Shetland is a dedicated cement carrier built for JT Cement AS, a joint venture between KGJ Cement, NovaAlgoma Cement Carriers Ltd and Erik Thun AB. She is a sister vessel of Greenland and Ireland, with a LNG fueled propulsion system. The vessel has improved cargo carrying capacity and LNG tank capacity compared to her sister ships, and will be able to receive shore power.
