The new Management Facilities Group offices were officially opened on Saturday 4 September 2010. It was a perfect day; the sun was shining brightly and warm.
The opening ceremony was performed by 40 persons ranging from 3 to 11 years old - children of the office staff and maritime personnel. All children were all dressed up as pirates. This may seem slightly odd considering the fact that we, in our line of work, prefer to have nothing to do with pirates. However, children think pirates are exciting. So we took a simple guiding principle... if the children are having a good time, parents will enjoy themselves too! The management deliberately chose to have an informal opening celebration. No outside guests, clients or other relations were invited. The main reason was that, with 52 people working at the office and more than 1000 seafarers employed by us, it is impossible to invite everyone. What’s more, work on board our ships goes on continuously, 24 hours a day.
The completion of the new building and the renovation of the existing office building have taken many months – a fact that will not have escaped anyone who deals with us. But the result is wonderful. The beautiful new shipping office rises and shines at Hogelandsterweg in Farmsum. Since its foundation in 1994 the MFG has grown steadily. The Marine Division is the most eye-catching part of the company. This branch takes care of the complete shipping management of around 50 ships. As a result, we needed more office space to house our ever-growing staff.
Management Facilities Group looks to the future with confidence, and with an additional 1100 m2 of new office space the company can set course full speed ahead for the coming years.
