30-05-2026 - The Thun Response was launched on 30 May 2026 at a celebratory event held at the shipyard in Leer, Germany.
Namegiving Wolfgang K.
23-04-2026 - Last week, the naming ceremony of the new vessel Wolfgang K. took place in China.
The event marked an important milestone in the Alstership fleet renewal programme, with Wolfgang K. being the latest of four new vessels joining the fleet. It reflects a structured and long-term investment in modern tonnage and continued fleet development.
Product tanker award winner
23-04-2026 - Erik Thun Group has been named International Chemical & Product Tanker Operator of the Year 2026 in London.
Strengthening the partnership
12-03-2026 - Wärtsilä has signed a long-term agreement with MF Shipping Group and Erik Thun Group to carry out overhauls and provide ongoing support for the fleet in the coming years.
IMO Secretary General attends launch!
16-02-2026 - On Thursday 12th February, Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and head of the UN body responsible for maritime safety and environmental protection, attended the launch of the methanol-ready product tanker Thun Resolve at the Ferus Smit shipyard in Leer. Brigit Gijsbers, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management's Deputy Director-General for Aviation and Maritime Affairs, served as the ship's godmother.
New Thun Tanker launched
17-10-2025 - On Friday morning, 17 October 2025, the Ferus Smit shipyard in Leer hosted the launch celebrations for the Thun Renew, the third of six “R-Class” sister ships for Thun Tankers, built in collaboration with MF Shipping Group as the ship's manager.
