On Friday 9 October, the Thun Resilience was launched at the Ferus Smit shipyard in Leer, Germany. Although the launch did not go entirely to plan and the vessel sustained some damage in the process, we are looking forward to the completion of the build and the moment when the Thun Resilience is ready for its next chapter. This launch marks yet another important milestone in the construction of Thun Tankers’ R-Class series.

Thun Resilience

The festive ceremony was attended by representatives from Erik Thun AB, Thun Tankers, Ferus Smit and MF Shipping Group. The ship was christened by James Davies, Senior Manager of Supply Operations at Valero, a key client of Thun Tankers.

The Thun Resilience is the sixth of eight R-Class sister ships being built by Ferus Smit. The series has been developed with a strong focus on operational efficiency, safety and environmental performance. This represents a further investment in a modern fleet that is ready to meet the demands of future maritime transport.

A sustainable future for the shipping industry

Building the future together

The R-Class series forms part of Erik Thun AB’s ongoing fleet development. By incorporating efficiency, safety and sustainability into the design, the focus is on reliable and responsible maritime transport solutions.

As the newbuild supervisor, MF Shipping Group is closely involved in the construction of the R-Class vessels and will take charge of ship management upon delivery. From the construction phase right through to operational deployment, this ensures that expertise and experience in the field of safe and efficient ship management are brought to bear.
