Lorem ipsum dolor Opportunities for you? ABSOLUTELY!

Your passion lies with ships. You’ll be based in Farmsum. First, a few practical details. For this role, do you live in the Netherlands or are you willing to relocate here? You’ll be based at our office in Farmsum.

Closing date: 15 November 2026

You’ll be spending time on board and at the shipyard on a regular basis. You can work from home if the nature of the work allows it, but it’s not possible to work exclusively from abroad. You’ll be responsible for arranging your own accommodation and any relocation; unfortunately, we’re unable to assist you with this. Is that not a problem for you? Great! Then we’d be happy to tell you more.

Ships in top condition. People you can count on.

A ship needs maintenance. Sometimes there’s a fault that can’t wait, sometimes a docking is scheduled, and sometimes a technical issue calls for a clever solution. As Technical Superintendent, you ensure that the technical systems remain in good working order and that our ships can sail safely and reliably.

To do this, you need to know what’s going on on board. But you don’t always have to be on board yourself to make a difference.

At MF Shipping Group, you combine hands-on experience with a permanent role within a team. You’ll visit ships and shipyards whenever your work requires it. At the office in Farmsum, you’ll consult with colleagues, discuss technical issues and work together to find solutions.

What are you going to do?

You are responsible for the technical condition and reliability of the vessels assigned to you. You maintain an overview, make decisions and ensure that matters are dealt with.

  • You analyse technical problems and ensure that faults and defects are properly resolved.
  • You plan and oversee maintenance, repairs, inspections and dry-docking.
  • You assess quotations, monitor budgets and keep costs and schedules under control.
  • You are a trusted technical point of contact for captains and chief engineers.
  • You liaise with shipyards, suppliers, classification societies and flag states.
  • You look ahead, identify risks and contribute ideas for improvements to our fleet.
  • You work closely with colleagues in engineering, operations and commercial departments.

You have a good understanding of marine engineering and know what is required on board. You realise that a technical solution must not only look sound on paper, but must also work in practice. No two days are the same. One day you might be dealing with a technical issue, whilst the next might be all about preparation, consultation and planning ahead. You’ll be given the freedom to take responsibility, but you’ll never be left to your own devices.

    or Technical Superintendent.
